Darryl Anka / interview

February 16th, 2012

Darryl Anka claims to have direct contact with a higher dimensional being who goes by the name of Bashar. This ability was set into motion by two close UFO sightings in 1973.

This stuff is easy to parody, but I take it seriously. It seems like I'm one of the few individuals that will acknowledge that channeled information is interwoven into the overall UFO phenomenon. There is an unmistakable pattern of people who claim the direct contact experience who will also say that they channel.

This is an important interview. Mike is right to go in the direction of channeling because so many close encounters seem to be physically channeled events — that’s right: physically, not psychically.

Anka gives an honest interview, and Mike asks perfect questions throughout. Of course, some of what Anka says is still arguable — in particular, the idea that channeling only looks and sounds cheesy and ridiculous in order to *test* us. While this may or may not be true, it’s indistinguishable from the type of ‘faith’ the cult leader-charlatan commands. “You are only imagining me here, right now, sleeping with your wife. It’s a test of faith.”

It fails not only because of the way it resembles other bad logic, but for other reasons, too. For instance, it’s possible to discern in a lot of ‘channeling’ obvious subconscious fantasy/bias in the channeler which is presented as channeled info. For example, in the Anya Briggs interview, when she goes off on a tangent about how men are so inadequate and aggressive, and how sensitive men are all so much better (this is all supposedly the channeled info, not Anya’s own speech) like Mike.

The same goes in a certain book on past-life regression when a gay man reveals (surprise!) he was once was the Empress of China. Or even when a very Catholic Whitley Strieber reveals that he was a high official, maybe a very important bishop in the early Catholic Church.

The point here is that all these imaginings are suspiciously likely. Does that make them false? No: if past lives are shown, indeed, to be such a basis for today’s un/subconscious life. But until such time as we *know*, saying that we should take generically positive messages as true on a leap of faith won’t do either.

Bashar is avoiding talking about “Certain subjects” e.g health advice and secret societies because Daryl knows that gets him involved in law suits. Always a good indication of a phoney

Thanks for doing this interview, I don’t think Darryl does many but I could be wrong. I believe I heard that Bashar doesn’t do interviews but only lectures which is a shame if my information is indeed correct.

Just finished listening and seems my question was pretty much addressed at the end of the interview
